The Coronado Yacht Club in San Diego hosted the 2014 29er Midwinter West Regatta which was also the second of the Canadian Youth Worlds Team Trials for 29er. 27 teams competed including a BC continent of 7 boats from Vancouver and Victoria. Coronado harbour provided excellent skiff racing conditions with flat water and 12-15 knot breezes each of the 3 days.

Quinn Wilson and Riley Gibbs from Santa Barbara CA won the regatta with race wins in 8 of the 12 races. Ryan and Andrew Wood sailed very well finishing in 3rd overall and qualifying to represent Canada in July at the Youth Worlds in Portugal. Lloyd Lyall and Andrew Moreno finished 10th, Tara Yuen and Connor Rupnow 15th, Callum MacDonald and Mathew Yee 18th, Dylan Jones and Stewart Clark 20th, Ansel Koehn and Hannah Small 23rd, Freja and Astrid Frykman 25th.
